Cambodia has drawn the attention of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) regarding recent unprovoked attacks by Thai military forces on Cambodian territory.

His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, raised the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border on the occasion of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York recently.

In his speech, His Excellency expressed deep concern on the ongoing tensions along the border with Thailand, particularly regarding the forced expulsion of Cambodian citizens, threats, and the use of national laws against Cambodian citizens. He pointed out that “such way of territorial control on the segment of the border yet to be demarcated demonstrates a clear disregard not only for the terms of ceasefire, but also for the mutual agreement on the settlement of border issues.”

His Excellency emphasized that these actions violate Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and at the same time, the rights and dignity of many Cambodian citizens have also been infringed upon.

The Deputy Prime Minister drew the attention of the United Nations General Assembly to the recent unprovoked attacks by Thai military forces on Cambodia, near a highly sensitive location, which occurred on 27 September 2025, along with accusations that Cambodian forces had initiated firing first.
His Excellency stressed that the Cambodian armed forces did not act as accused nor did they respond, which clearly demonstrates Cambodia’s firm commitment to peace. In the same spirit as at the end of the war nearly three decades ago, Cambodia also calls for dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, with strict and sincere respect for the agreed terms of the ceasefire, full compliance with bilateral agreements, international law, the United Nations Charter, and the ASEAN Charter.
